About the activity
Klaipėda’s vintage car museum has opened in a century-old gasworks.
It is not only a marvel of automotive beauty and engineering but also a testimony to history and the fruit of the persistent efforts of businessman Augustinas Jankevičius and Arvydas Urbis, director of the support foundation “Augustus”. This place was once listed in red on the city’s register of abandoned buildings, but today it shines with new life. In his vision, Augustinas Jankevičius saw not only a car museum but also a technical education park. Although there were requirements and challenges, enthusiasm and community involvement ensured success.
Ten years later, the buildings have come back to life and adorn the city. The car museum, which has now been born and is developing, not only displays unique cars from A. Jankevičius’s collection but also tells the story of the old technology of gas production. This museum is not only a luxurious car paradise but also a symbol of how engaging with the past can help create tomorrow.
