About the place
Klaipėda’s M. Mažvydas Avenue is not only a green artery of the city, but also an open-air artistic experience. Following its 2008 reconstruction, led by architect V. Paulionis, the avenue was renewed with modern lighting, clinker and granite paving, and unique places to rest – sculptural benches.
The granite benches are decorated with a variety of sculptural compositions that invite you to stop, sit down and dream. Each has its own character – from the playful “Cat” or “Chess” to the poetic “Dreamer” and the philosophical “Reconciliation”.
These artworks dedicated to the city do more than decorate the avenue – they inspire, awaken the imagination and create a connection between people and their surroundings. Be sure to explore this distinctive space and discover all the works that have found a home here: “The Book of the Avenue”, “Bronze Girl”, “Microchip of Life”, “Towards the Sea”, “Cat”, “Klaipėda Resident”, “Noughts and Crosses”, “Mars”, “Key to the World of Art”, “Sundial”, “Chest”, “Reconciliation”, “Dreamer”, “Chess”, “Leap” and “Spring”.
These little islands of art form an open-air gallery for everyone, at any time of day.
