It is the only coastal defence system completed during the Second World War, built after Germany annexed the Klaip\u0117da Region in 1939. The second battery, \u201cMemel-S\u00fcd\u201d, remained only on the drawing board. The massive silhouettes of concrete bunkers, thick walls and the wind quietly whistling through periscope openings tell of a time when the sea had to be defended from more than waves.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Today, it is no longer a military installation but a living open-air museum with an interactive exhibition that can be visited with a guide or independently. It is a journey through time that invites you to touch history.
