Giruliai seems almost made for a family holiday. This small settlement in the northern part of Klaip\u0117da welcomes visitors with the sound of the sea and the company of green forests. Nature here is especially beautiful and generous \u2013 a botanical-zoological reserve has been established in the area.<\/p>\n

In the 19th century, sand dunes still stretched across this area until the Prussian authorities decided to plant them with pine trees. Later, merchants were allowed to establish bathing facilities and local residents to rent out summer houses. Today, it is one of Klaip\u0117da\u2019s favourite beaches, especially among families with children. Giruliai can be reached by bicycle, bus or even train \u2013 just seven minutes from the city centre. A paved path leads across the dunes to the beach, and the beach itself is spacious and welcoming to everyone: there are caf\u00e9s, a lifeguard station, changing cabins and a wooden viewing platform where it is especially pleasant to watch the sunset in the evening.<\/p>\n
