About the activity

Since ancient times, people living on the Baltic coast have treasured the sea’s gift – amber – and valued it like gold. Many believed, and still believe, that amber holds a magical power able to protect against evil and even heal. Today both coastal residents and visitors can take part in a unique amber-catching tour. During the experience you will learn how amber was formed and what properties it has, and you will see the guide’s original amber collection. You will also discover the techniques of catching and collecting amber. The bravest participants can test their skills in the sea waves using a scoop net. The tours are led by experienced guide and amber catcher Igoris Osnač.
