Tourist tax

From 1 January 2025, a tourist tax of €1 per overnight stay applies in Klaipėda. It is paid by people staying in short-term accommodation in the city of Klaipėda.

The funds collected are used to improve tourism and leisure infrastructure, enhance the quality of cultural and tourism services, reduce seasonality, and strengthen Klaipėda’s appeal and visibility as a tourist destination.

The tax is collected by accommodation providers – hotels, guesthouses and private individuals offering short-term accommodation services.

Accommodation providers are required to inform guests about the tax, collect it, and declare and transfer the collected amount to Klaipėda City Municipality on a quarterly basis.
