About the activity
The largest museum dedicated to the history of the Klaipėda region is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Klaipėda Old Town, built at the end of the 18th century. Everything you see and hear here tells the story of the coastal region that for several centuries was known as part of East Prussia. The museum displays maps of Prussia, coins and archaeological finds. Visitors can explore the region’s pagan and Christian culture, follow the maps of early cartographers and understand how East Prussia and the Klaipėda region developed. Old Klaipėda comes to life in postcards and photographs. Those interested in traditional crafts can discover not only how local people dressed and adorned themselves, but also the straw beehives they made for bees.
