About the activity

Music worth discovering.

Klaipėda Concert Hall is a professional performing-arts concert institution in Western Lithuania, established in 2005 by a decision of Klaipėda City Council.

Presenting more than 380 events of different genres each season, the hall combines excellent acoustics with extensive technical capabilities and meets the needs of even the most demanding performers and listeners. Once the season ends, concerts move for several summer months to the park stage set up in the courtyard.

For many seasons Klaipėda Concert Hall has consistently pursued its mission: to introduce residents and visitors to internationally recognised and emerging performers and creators, and to present concert programmes by professional Lithuanian and international artists at the highest level. The institution makes a major contribution to the city’s musical culture by organising regular concert series, classical and contemporary music festivals, family concerts, educational programmes, and the artistic activities of resident ensembles and individual performers.

The institution includes the Klaipėda Carillon and three professional ensembles – the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, Klaipėda Mixed Choir “Aukuras”, and the Klaipėda Brass Quintet.

Every year Klaipėda Concert Hall organises five international festivals of different styles and formats: “Klaipėda Music Spring”, dedicated to orchestral music, the Klaipėda Carillon Festival, the contemporary-music festival “Music of Changes”, and the festive classical-music festival “Salve musica”. Since 2017, the programme has also included the biennial International Klaipėda Cello Festival and Competition, later named after the world-renowned Lithuanian cellist David Geringas and presented as the International David Geringas Cello Competition. Alongside its festivals, the institution also organises the Klaipėda International Cello Academy (KIVA), which develops cello traditions and the skills of young performers.
