Every city has its legends, special places and stories that make it unique. Did you know that Klaipėda was once a fortress surrounded by bastions and waterways, that influential kings discussed European affairs here, and that journeys around the world began from this port? On a tour of Klaipėda Old Town you will learn the history of the medieval castle and city, touch old red-brick walls, discover the historic Town Hall, admire the sculpture of Ännchen of Tharau in Theatre Square and solve the mystery of the “Meridianas”. Serious and entertaining stories await at the Black Ghost, the Mermaid, the Chimney Sweep and other unique places in the Old Town. (2 hours in the Old Town, or 3 hours including a visit to the Castle Museum.)
