Theatrical Tour “The Story of Puodžių Street”

About the activity

Puodžių Street did not get its name by accident – a potters’ market was already held here in the 18th century. And what scents filled the air… A bakery spread the delicious aroma of fresh buns along the whole street, while fish was smoked in one of the courtyards, so the smell of baking sometimes mingled with the distinctive Klaipėda scent of smoked fish. The street was full of sound and activity: a knife sharpener offered his services, fish sellers and milkmen their goods, while in the evenings a barrel organ and sometimes a mandolin could be heard. This is how Puodžių Street remained in the memories of people who lived here in the 19th century… What is the street like today, what stories do its courtyards tell and who lives here now? You will hear it all on the tour.
