About the place
Sculpture:
– I am afraid of the dark. I am afraid of disappearing.
Mother:
– But you are no longer a little boy. Now you are a sculptor. A big, strong man with a thick black beard.
Sculpture:
– The bird of night has a sharp claw and a pointed beak. It tucked the moon beneath its wings and left the night without light. A little boy sits at a large table and waits for his mother and father to return. They will switch on the light, the evil bird will fly away and never come back.
Mother:
– I have returned. I switch on the light. I embrace you, my son. Open your eyes. This bird is only your fear. The moon has returned to its place in the sky, and you will never be afraid of anything again.
Sculpture:
– Did the bird hurt the stars? Will they shine beside the moon when I open my eyes?
Mother:
– Sculptor Stasys Žirgulis opened his eyes and saw countless stars. Then he took a chisel, chose a stone and carved a great bird that had stolen the moon. “This is my midnight,” said sculptor Stasys, “and fear is like a shell that surrounds a person on every side. When you carve your fear, you cast off the shell. You step into the light and are no longer afraid of anything.”
